Biography
I’m a Palestinian born in Amman, Jordan and raised in a long list of long countries, none of which are Palestine. Foreign influence was always present on me growing up, but I’ve never felt myself to be anything but Palestinian. Born into a family that has its roots deep in the Palestinian liberation movement, I grew up constantly surrounded by Palestinian art, food, music, and mentality. However, since I have been abroad my entire life I also grew up surrounded by crowds that could never quite fully understand my people’s struggles, driving me to learn to express my pain in ways beyond facts and figures. Named after my grandfather whom I look up to very dearly, I feel a certain responsibility to carry on his legacy in one way or another. To never forget where I came from and to never forget where I must return.
